Driving and Parking Safely When Visiting Wickers Gymnastics

When visiting Wickers Gymnastics, it's essential to consider not just your safety, but also the safety of others around you. We encourage all our members and their families to think about the environment and use public transport or walk whenever possible. Not only does this help reduce our carbon footprint, but it also makes our area safer for everyone, especially our young gymnasts. However, we understand that driving might sometimes be the only option. If that's the case, please read on for tips on how to drive and park responsibly in and around Wickers Gymnastics.

Parking Options at Wickers Gymnastics

We’re lucky to have several parking options available around the club. Here’s a quick guide to the designated areas you can use:

  1. Onsite Car Park: This is our primary parking option, located right by the gym. The onsite car park is convenient, but please note that spaces are limited. Arriving early can help you secure a spot.

  2. On-Road Parking on Chartwell Road: There are spots available directly on Chartwell Road. However, do take care to park legally and avoid any areas marked with restrictions such as double yellow lines.

  3. On-Road Parking in Elm Grove: This nearby street provides additional on-road parking options. It's a short walk to the gym, making it a good alternative if the onsite car park is full.

  4. Chartwell Car Park (Next to the Fire Station): Just a two-minute walk from the club, this car park is an excellent choice for those who prefer a designated parking area. It’s also quite spacious, so it’s usually less crowded.

  5. Norton Road: Another nearby street with parking options, but please be mindful of the local parking rules and avoid blocking any driveways or private forecourts.

Important Parking and Safety Guidelines

To ensure that everyone at Wickers Gymnastics remains safe, we kindly ask all visitors to follow these simple guidelines:

  • Avoid Double Yellow Lines: Please do not park on double yellow lines or in front of any business's private forecourts. Not only is it illegal, but it also creates a hazard for other drivers and pedestrians.

  • Watch the Chartwell Road Bend: Parking on the bend of Chartwell Road can obstruct traffic and reduce visibility for everyone. Let’s keep this area clear to avoid any accidents.

  • Crossing the Road: If you’re parking across the street or on nearby roads, be extra vigilant when crossing Chartwell Road. Always hold your child's hand to keep them safe, and remember that visibility can be limited due to parked cars.

  • Use the Pedestrian Crossing: There’s a pedestrian crossing point by the bicycle rack, opposite the main car park entrance. It’s the safest spot to cross, especially with children in tow.

  • Respect the One-Way System: Chartwell Road is a one-way road, and all vehicles must turn right when exiting the car park. This helps maintain a smooth flow of traffic and reduces confusion or potential accidents.

Tips for Reducing Our Carbon Footprint

At Wickers Gymnastics, we’re committed to being environmentally conscious. Here are a few simple ways to help reduce our carbon footprint when coming to the gym:

  • Carpooling: If driving is necessary, consider carpooling with other families attending the same session. It’s a great way to cut down on the number of vehicles and emissions.

  • Walking or Biking: If you live nearby, walking or biking is a fantastic option. Not only is it good for the environment, but it also provides a healthy warm-up for our gymnasts!

  • Public Transport: Make use of the local public transport options if you can. It’s another excellent way to reduce traffic congestion and emissions.

A Friendly Reminder from the Wickers Team

We appreciate all our members for their continued support and cooperation. By following these guidelines, we can ensure that Wickers Gymnastics remains a safe and welcoming environment for everyone. Whether you’re walking, biking, using public transport, or driving, your efforts make a big difference in keeping our club safe and sustainable.

Thank you for doing your part to make Wickers Gymnastics a great place for all our children and families!
